The Great Treatise (3 vols)

The Great Treatise on the Stages of the Path to Enlightenment (Tib. Lam rim chen mo) is an epic masterpiece of Buddhist literature, long revered for its for comprehensive treatment of Buddhist spiritual practice and philosophy. The author, Tsong-kha-pa (1357-1419), one of Tibet’s most influential and prolific scholar-yogis, completed this voluminous work in 1402, and it soon became renowned as a treasure trove of Buddhist thought and practice, vast in scope yet lucid in explication. Drawing extensively from the works of the great Indian masters, Tsong-kha-pa carefully integrates meditative experience with thoroughgoing reasoning and situates Tibetan Buddhism as an extension of the Indian Buddhist tradition.

The Prince Who Became A Cuckoo

When his consciousness becomes trapped in the body of a cuckoo, the Indian Prince and hero of this tale nevertheless manages to use his newfound avian life form to assist others with the Buddha’s teachings. This enchanting narrative, a translation of a tale composed by a Tibetan monk in 1857, educates the reader about many of Buddhism’s most central teachings.
